About Roof Prism Binoculars:
The prism system of a binocular reduces the size needed to contain a long optical path and turns what would be an upside-down image right-side-up. In roof prism binoculars, the prisms overlap closely, allowing the objective lenses to line up directly with the eyepiece. I've owned two pair for about a year. I just lost one pair. I wouldn't consider ordering anything else.Here's some advice -- resist the temptation to spend a lot more money on binoculars. These are about as good as binoculars get. I don't mean to knock similar binoculars from other manufacturers at a similar price. They are probably equally good. Birders -- and likely other binocular users -- are often superstitious about binoculars. The weather was going to be lousy so I wanted anti-fog and waterproof features plus the nifty rubber armor coating found on quality items. After checking the specs from the many models available I chose the Bushnell H20 because this pair seemed to have everything and didn't cost a fortune for the few times they will be used, good choice.
