Ritz - See all my reviews    This review is from: Celestron 44412 Prepared Microscope Slides (100-Piece Set) (Electronics) Celestron has taken the typical Chinese laboratory prepared slides, corrected many of the spelling errors in the listing that comes with the box and packed the wooden box in a nice printed cardboard box. The selection is more interesting than the three other '100 slide' collections that we have, but the quality of the slides is the same. Only about forty of the slides are duplicates of our other sets, and ten of those are different enough to merit keeping both prepared specimens. I like the wooden box, and Celestron's slide labels are better than the other three sets because they have the slide numbers located at the very top of the label (some sets do not number the slides themselves). Six of the slides are not what is listed in the printed list of contents; not a cause for complaint since no seller had a listing of the slides when we ordered them. If properly handled and stored, this is a gift that can be passed along for years to come. I bought this item to have on hand for my Grandkids to play with when they come to visit. Everyone loves it -including me---I am confined to a wheelchair and boy oh boy have I found uses for it, from finding things in my pantry, to looking up under my sink to see how to tighten a loose water valve. Also I can use it to look out the kitchen window to the side to see who is at the door. It is durable and the mirrors are glass and clear as can be. Every one who comes picks it up and starts looking around and over and under things. Attach a tiny flashlight with velcro and you can see under your stove or dishwasher etc. (a spooky thing to do if you are the one responsible for all the junk and dirt and crud you can find there). After dark I looked at some open star clusters and found that they are great for astronomy too. Mom loves 'em, uses them almost every day from the kitchen window for urban bird-watching.
